KCSE candidate to sit exams in police cell after beating nephew to death


Police have arrested a Form Four student at Baba Dogo Secondary school who caned his nephew to death on Wednesday evening in Ruaraka.

Kenya Police spokesman Charles Owino said that the deceased collapsed at their residence in Kasabuni estate after he was caned by his uncle.

He was rushed to Amani health centre but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police have organized with the examination invigilators to allow the suspect sit for his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations at the Ruaraka police station where he is being held in custody.

The deceased’s mother has also been questioned by the police since it was alleged that she accused the deceased of truant behavior and asked his brother, the suspect, to punish the child.

The body has been transferred to the City Mortuary. A post-mortem will be done on Friday to establish the exact cause of death.
