Keli sabotaged at Nkana, Zambian journalist claims

A Zambian journalist has sensationally claimed on social media that former AFC Leopards forward Jacob Keli is facing sabotage from his teammates at Nkana FC.

Keli a Kenyan international, only transferred to the Zambian top flight league in June following a big money move by local standard, and has since scored in three consecutive friendly matches for his new club.

The Kenyan forward however failed to find the target in his first competitive game against the Golden Arrows on Wednesday evening, a performance that coincided with the controversial sentiments from Lusaka based radio presenter Puncherello Chama.

“The action of some players not to be passing the ball to Jacob Keli must be condemned,” Chama wrote on his official Facebook page.

TEAMWORK

“Football is teamwork and it was quite clear that some players did not pass the ball to Keli even when he was free. Keli did not have a good game but that was silly some players could have cost the team. No player is bigger than Nkana,” he added.

The journalist then concluded by urging Nkana FC’s management to reprimand the alleged saboteurs, whom he did not name.

Nkana coach Aggrey Chiyangi while speaking after the match against Arrows, said he was still building a new team following a below par start to the campaign.

“What’s important is that the players were hitting the target but the Red Arrows keeper was good. I cannot blame my players for failing to score more goals. That is why I said you will see a better Nkana in the second half of the season,” Chiyangi said.

Keli – a former Kenyan Premier League Footballer of the Year -boasts a rich scoring history during his stint at home with AFC Leopards, KCB and Sofapaka. Nkana is currently placed 11th of on 16 team table standings.
