Nairobi hosts global telcom forum
The Communications Authority of Kenya hosted the 2015 Annual Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization (CTO) 2015 Forum.
The theme of this year’s forum was ‘Towards a Connected Commonwealth’ as the world continues to witness information technology transform many spheres of life.
Locally, Kenya is a good case study on the rapid adoption of numerous on-line services offered across digital platforms.
The growth in the sector is mainly attributed to the increased uptake of mobile and data services, increased access to better quality and more affordable broadband connectivity as well as unprecedented innovative ICT services that have invigorated sectors across the economy.
Digital services such as e-banking, e-health, e-commerce, and e-education are now a mantra among Kenyans as more and more people access affordable smart devices.
The other technological advancement that Kenya has embraced is broadband.
“We anticipate further increase in broadband penetration following the release of frequencies succeeding the migration from analogue to digital broadcasting,” said Eng. Wangusi.
