Kenyan man in US found dead inside his car with the engine running

Police in the United States are investigating the death of a Kenyan man who was found dead inside his car which was parked in a petrol station with the engine still running.

Mr Robert Ombui Omae, a father of two, was found dead on September 20, 2023 inside his car in Arlington Texas.

The mother of the deceased, Ms Alice Kwamboka Omae, said she learned of her son’s death from relatives who called her late at night requesting to visit her.

Ms Omae said the call that came around 1pm left her wondering why her relatives wanted to see that late at night.

“I got out of bed and said a word of prayer before going back to sleep. Moments later, the relatives informed me that they were already at my gate,” Ms Omae said.

She then got out of bed and welcomed the five guests, who first said a word of prayer.

That is when they broke the devastating news. On hearing the news of her son’s death, Ms Omae collapsed while wailing.

The grieving mother said she had received word from her son’s wife that he had arrived at his home very early in the morning from work but he was not looking okay.

The family is currently planning to bring back the body of the deceased for burial in their rural home in Nyamache Sub-County in Kisii County.
