Kenyans raise funds for the family of man who was shot dead in Mathare

Kenyans have donated Sh106,532 to the family of a man who was allegedly shot dead by the police on June 1, in Mathare slums.

According investigative journalist John Allan Namu, who shared the post, the money will help late James Muriithi’s (Baite) widow Christine to educate her three children who are still in school.

As of this evening, you all have raised Sh106,532 for the late James Muriithi’s (Baite) family! Thank you ever so much for your generosity. Spoke to his widow Christine and she asked that you all be blessed,” Namu tweeted.

On Father’s Day Human Rights Activist Boniface Mwangi and Namu appealed to Kenyans to help the widow whose husband was allegedly killed by police officers who was enforcing curfew orders.

“Remember the man that was shot dead by police in Mathare; his name was James Muriithi. He was a husband and a father of three. On this #FathersDay stand by his Widow and support her, Christine Mumbua: 0725156230, M-Pesa her what you can. Thank you. #HowICare @johnallannamu,” Mwangi tweeted.
