How Kenyans reacted to Uhuru Park’s closure
Kenyans have shared varied reactions on social media to Nairobi County Government’s announcement of the indefinitely closure of Uhuru Park grounds on Wednesday.
The closure of the venue, the county government explained in a paid up advert appearing in the dailies, will enable “phased improvement works in order to enhance recreational usefulness to its visitors.”
Critics have however interpreted this announcement as a ploy to subvert the planned swearing in of opposition leader Raila Odinga as the ‘People’s President’.

The ceremony is slated for the same venue on January 30.
Also affected is a free medical camp, involving free circumcision, spearheaded by Gatundu South lawmaker Moses Kuria, that also had been primed for the venue on the same day.

So what renovation is going on at Uhuru Park that they have to close it? Are they painting the grass or what?

Apart from Uhuru Park let them also go ahead and close Uhuru Highway, Kenyatta Avenue and Mama Ngina street for renovation too. #uhuruparkofflimits
