Here’s what Kenyans said after Uhuru voted for Nyashinski

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s revelation that he voted for Kenyan musician Nyashinski in the MTV Europe Music Awards (Best African Act) has elicited mixed reactions from Kenyans.

On Wednesday, the President tweeted that he voted for the Mungu Pekee hit maker and urged Kenyans to also vote for the artiste.

The category which music group Sauti Sol bagged in 2014 has Nyashinski battling it out with big name such as the Nigerian duo of Wizkid and Davido, South Africans Babes Wodumo and Nasty C and Angola’s C4 Pedro.

President Kenyatta’s rallying call, perhaps meant to reach out to the youth, comes at a time the country is polarized in the aftermath of two presidential elections in three months.

The presidential plea is timely as ultimately, Nyashinki whose lit up the local entertainment scene with sensational tracks such as Malaika and Now You Know in recent times, will for sure need as many votes as he can to stand a chance.

The president’s tweet triggered a flood of comments from Kenyans on Twitters.

The prestigious award is open for public voting on the MTVEMA’s website

The award ceremony will be held in London on November 12.
