Khalwale complains of ‘heavy military presence’ in Ikolomani after police raid his home

Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale is claiming that residents of Ikolomani are leaving in fear over what he terms as ‘heavy military presence’ in the area.

The veteran politician’s sentiments have come after police officers stormed his home home in Malinya, Ikolomani on Tuesday claiming that they had received information that he plans to disrupt Thursday’s presidential election.

The veteran politician announced the police operation at his home on his Twitter page, @KBoniMtetezi at around 2pm.

In his tweet, Khalwale said several officers had stormed his home in four police vehicles and demanded to search it.

“I have seen several trucks in Ikolomani. Some of the officers stopped and greeted me. I believe the government is trying to intimidate Ikolomani residents ahead of Thursday’s exercise. But I insist as per the law, these are not credible elections, said Khalwale.

“We will not accept that. There will be no elections on Thursday. At least credible elections as prescribed in the law.”

In what turned out to be an eventful Tuesday, the police operation at the former Ikolomani MP’s home came hours after he was criticized on social media for uploading a post alongside a photo of what appeared to be the body of a person being lynched by an irate mob.

Khalwale captioned the photo; “This thug came to Malinya & robbed a boda boda rider of his motor bike. Unfortunately he forgot that this’s the land of bullfighters!”

Despite losing in his bid to unseat Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya in the August elections, Khalwale has remained steadfast in his criticism of the Jubilee government.

He is one of the senior politicians who have been vocal in the call for sabotaging the repeat elections.
