Khalwale trailing Oparanya in Kakamega county
Senator Boni Khalwale’s is facing failure in his bid to dethrone Wycliffe Oparanya as Kakamega County governor.
As per the provisional results released by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission on Wednesday, Oparanya has opened up an assailable lead over his fierce political rival.
With 90 percent of the counted votes cast in the County already counted, Oparanya has accumulated 240,000 more votes than Khalwale in this region that dominantly is an opposition zone.
Oparanya has so far garnered 366,705 votes against Khalwale’s 128,705 votes, prompting mixed reactions on social media.

This will be the first time in 15 years that Khalwale, 57, will not be involved in active politics.
He commenced his political career as Ikolomani MP in 2002. He has also served as assistant Minister and Kakamega Senator.
