Kidero approves Sh200m upgrade of health centres


Nairobi Governor has approved the budget for the upgrade of six health centres that will cost Sh 202 million.

The health centres will be standardized to 24 hours outpatient services to cope with high populations in  informal settlements.

The health centres are in Mukuru, Embakasi, Mathare North, Karen, Riruta, Dandora respectively.

According to the budget, Sh118 million will be used to purchase equipment, while Sh 82 million will be used for repairs in the  six health centres.

Dr. Kigondu, the director of health services, said the county is expecting 48 more doctors who are currently trainee doctors at Kenyatta national hospital, Mbagathi hospital, Mama Lucy hospital and Forces Memorial hospital.

Nairobi county has 97 medical doctors, 25 dentists and 17 pharmacists.
