Kidero builds Sh5m tin sheet houses to slum fire victims – PHOTOS

Nairobi county government has constructed 1,000 mabati houses at a cost of sh5 million to victims of a slum fire in Kuwinda village, Karen.

The fire razed down houses in March 2017, leaving approximately 2,000 people homeless.

“Today marks an important milestone for Kuwinda village residents as my team finally expedited the reconstruction of houses that were razed down by an unfortunate fire incident in March. The county government facilitated the construction of the 1,000 units that I am handing over today,” said Dr Evans Kidero on Wednesday.

The governor promised to fastrack the remainder of the houses for residents not yet housed.

City Hall will also construct an ablution block and provide water to residents.

“Kuna  watu wengine walikuja hapa mulipochomokewa na wakaahidi mabati  mia nne, mulipata?” posed the governor in reference to politicians who made promises on resettling the residents that they are yet to honor.

The governor was accompanied by his heputy Jonathan Mueke and ODM’s Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris.
