Kidero calls for cleanup of Nairobi voters register

Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero on Sunday supported calls for an audit of the voter register before the next general election.

“I fully supports the cleansing of the voters register in readiness for the coming elections in 2017,” said Governor Kidero.

Dr Kidero was speaking at the Divine Mercy Church in Kariobangi South where he donated Sh200,000 towards the completion of the church.

The Governor condemned the importation of voters to Nairobi from neighbouring counties.

He said the Nairobi voter register has been compromised and said imported voters will not be allowed to vote in Nairobi.

Dr Kidero said the race for Nairobi’s gubernatorial seat is open to all candidates.  He however castigated aspirants who “can’t make their way around Nairobi “.

“Last week there is one aspirant who could not find his way to Burma market” Dr Kidero told the cheering faithful.

Dr Kidero was accompanied by Philip Kungu, the Chairman of the County Public Service Board, Archbishop Philip Kungu, Nairobi County Secretary Dr Ayisi and the County Executive in charge of County Public Service Management Mercy Kamau.
