Kidero calls for peace and unity ahead of 2017 elections

Nairobi City County Governor, Dr Evans Kidero, has called for unity and peace ahead of the 2017 General elections.

Dr Kidero was speaking at the 10th anniversary of the Christ Is The Answer Ministry (CITAM) church in Buruburu.

“We must remain united and shun tribal politics. Nairobi is not only a cosmopolitan city but is the melting pot of all tribes. The only way the city will continue to attract investors and visitors is if we have lasting peace, unity and stability,” Kidero said.

“I call upon all Kenyans and Nairobians to unite and forget our tribal affiliations and instead focus our energies on electing leaders who will bring stability to our great nation and city. Let us shun greedy and corrupt leaders.”

He added: “I know that water and security is a problem in Buruburu. We will continue working with Buruburu residents to ensure that services promised are delivered. But you also have to pay for in good time.”

He said that the county has continued to erect street lights which have reduced crime drastically by 75% and that the county’s Our Urban Renewal project was also on course as they have signed Joint venture Agreements (JVA) with developers who will focus on Pangani and Ngara areas.

“With the continued growing population of Nairobi we aim to build 500,000 houses. The Nairobi City County Liqueur Board spearheaded by its Chairman Vincent Shimoli is working very hard to ensure the biggest issue amongst our youth, which is alcohol and drugs, is eradicated in Nairobi.”
