Kidero meets panel probing Judge Tunoi Sh202m bribe claim
Nairobi governor Evans Kidero on Tuesday morning met with the special committee that is investigating claims that he bribed a Supreme Court Judge with Sh202 million.
Dr Kidero was accompanied by his lawyer Katwa Kigen as he arrived at the Supreme Court on Tuesday morning.
The bribery allegations stem from an affidavit by a former Kass FM journalist Geoffrey Kiplagat who claimed that he facilitated payment of a $2 million (Sh202 million) bribe to Judge Phillip Tunoi to influence the outcome of an appeal lodged by Dr Kidero against the nullification of his 2013 election.
On Monday, the special committee of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) investigating the claims had said it would not summon the governor.
Dr Kidero had over the weekend claimed that a highly organised network of “political cartels”, out to have him thrown out of office, is behind the bribery claims.
He denied knowing the judge personally.
