No, I don’t have Sh300m in account, says Kidero

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero on Sunday put a conditional ultimatum for the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate his bank accounts.

According to Dr Kidero, the anti-graft agency will only access his bank accounts on condition that the commission specifies the period for which it wants to scrutinise them.

“I will only allow EACC to access my bank accounts only if it specifies the period for which it wants to scrutinise them,” Kidero wrote on his Twitter handle.

Dr Kidero added that it would be unfair to investigate accounts that he has held for decades on matters that do not backdate to such a period.

“I have had the accounts for 33 years. You can’t scrutinise an account from 1983 to 2016. Let them (EACC) say the period for which they want them and what they are investigating according to the law and they will get it,” said the governor.

“…but you cannot look for an account for 33 years.”

During a church service in a Nairobi church, Dr Kidero denied he had Sh300 million in his bank.
