Kidero orders for recruitment of doctors, nurses

By KIARIE NJOROGE December 16th, 2013 1 min read

Governor Evans Kidero has asked the County Public Service Board to recruit 60 doctors, 47 clinical officers, 436 nurses and 20 lab technicians.

Advertisements for the positions will be aired on Monday on electronic media as well as on print media on Tuesday, said Mr Kidero.

The fresh recruits will be deployed to Mbagathi, Pumwani and Mama Lucy hospitals.

All recruits will report at Mama Lucy hospital for deployment.

The order for fresh recruitment follows a strike which started last week called to force the national Government to reconsider paying health workers through the counties.

Kenyatta National Hospital is the only hospital in Nairobi county which has not been paralysed following the country wide strike.

“We will not be able to handle the situation after next week if the strike continues. Health workers should also think and look at the situation and consider going back to work,” said KNH acting CEO Dr Monda.

Services have been grounded at Mbagathi, Mama Lucy and Pumwani Hospitals.

Mr Kidero made the announcement at County Hall on Monday where he signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to tackle corruption.

County Hall has so far sacked 150 employees over corruption, said Governor Kidero.
