Kidero pleads for more time to clean rot in Nairobi
Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero on Sunday urged residents to give him more time to restore efficiency in the management of the capital city.
Dr Kidero, who attended a service at ACK’s St Francis Church in Karen with his wife Susan, promised to change the county.
In a statement, the governor said he was elected by the city’s residents and has a duty to restore its past glory.
GLORY DAYS
“I know that Nairobians want the City to be restored back to its glory days. This will happen, but I ask that you give me time to ensure this happens because a lot of work needs to be done to achieve this and restore this great city back to its glory days,” he said.
The governor, who is two years in office, has been criticised for failing to fight corruption in city hall, clear garbage in residential areas, stop hawking in the city centre and eradicate growing number of street families.
POLITICISE CORRUPTION
In his statement, Governor Kidero stated that leaders should not politicise the fight against graft.
“We all know that the process involved in fighting corruption should be done within the provisions of the laws as clearly stated in our Constitution,” he said.
Governor Kidero’s name features in the list of shame released by President Uhuru Kenyatta of public officers accused of being involved in corruption.
