Kidero faces anti-corruption officials over Sh4.6 b scandal

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero will Thursday be questioned by anti-graft officials over allegations of corruption.

Twelve other county bosses will be quizzed at a later date.

This comes as the High Court on Wednesday heard a case in which Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok is seeking to stop the publication of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission list of public officials accused of graft.

“The first schedule of those to be questioned closes on April 20. Dr Kidero is the only governor in this schedule. Others will be quizzed in the second schedule,” said the commission’s spokesman, Mr Yassin Amaro.

Dr Kidero has been linked to a Sh4.6 billion scandal arising from a plan to start a metro transportation system in the city.

Mr Nanok and Turkana County Executive for Finance Paul Nabui are alleged to have paid Sh14 million to unknown contractors for construction of a non-existent bridge.
