Kimanzi replaces Matano as Tusker coach

Former Kenya Premier league club Tusker FC have sacked coach Robert Matano and replaced with him Francis Kimanzi.

The former Harambee Stars and Mathare United tactician beat Jan Koops and Zdravko Logarusic who had also been linked with the job.

The appointment takes effect immediately with the coach expected to pick his technical bench before the 2014 season kicks off.

According to club chairman James Musyoka, a number of candidates were interviewed for the job but Kimanzi was the most suitable.

“After a rigorous process we have settled on him to take the club forward. He has the experience and we believe he has what it takes to win trophies with the club,” Mr Musyoka said.

Tusker finished a disappointing fifth in the 2013 KPL season, 18 points behind Champions Gor Mahia despite winning the trophy back to back in 2011 and 2012.

Matano joined the club at the end of last season and guided the club to the premier league title but he was unable to repeat the feat this year.
