Kioni: Ruto planned for years to manipulate poll
Jubilee party secretary general Jeremiah Kioni has accused President-elect William Ruto of manipulating the outcome of the August 2022 polls.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commision (IEBC) announced Ruto as the winner of the polls with Raila Odinga, George Wajackoyah, and Mwaure Wahiga coming home second, third, and fourth respectively.
Odinga has moved to court to challenge the results while Wahiga has conceded defeat and thrown his weight behind Ruto.
And Kioni, who separately lost in his bid to retain the Ndaragwa parliamentary seat, is now blaming Ruto for the poor performance by Jubilee, a political outfit associated with retiring President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He has also conceded that President Uhuru Kenyatta underestimated Riut
“They planned on how to do this election for four or five years,” said Kioni, but without sharing proof.
He spoke in an interview with NTV.
“Most of these things will be revealed in court. We thought because they say they are God-fearing they cannot do such things. I am sure when all is said and done, Raila Odinga will be declared President.”
As per the IEBC Ruto, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate, garnered 7,176, 141 votes which are equivalent to 50.49 of the votes cast.
The constitution requires the winning presidential candidate to garner 50% plus one of the votes cast.
