KNH baby theft suspect linked to another missing baby
A woman accused of stealing a three weeks old baby at Kenyatta National Hospital will be charged Tuesday.
Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot issued the directive Monday after Police from the Child Protection Unit told the court that investigations into the matter had been finalised.
The court, however, heard that the suspect, Edinah Kerubo Mabuka, 29, is suspected to have been involved in the theft of another child three years ago.
“On September 25, 2015 complainant Caroline Kaumbi Kingori reported a case of child stealing at the DCI headquarters…the modus operandi used by the suspect is similar to the incident which occurred on February 18 at KNH,” court heard.
According to the police, the manner in which the child at KNH was stolen on February 18 is similar to the new complaint and that the suspect fits her description as given by the complainant.
“I pray to this court to grant us three days to allow us conduct more investigations and have the suspect detained at Muthaiga police station,” court was told.
