Odhiambo, popularly known as Matach or Matakweyi in political circles, stressed that the nominees represent the face of Nairobi.

“I have scrutinized the list. Those appointed are competent and I am also impressed that youths have been handed a chance to showcase their talents and skills,” he said.

“I do not expect issues in approving them.”

There have been complaints that the governor did not appoint someone from the Muslim community despite their huge presence in Nairobi, especially on the business front but the MCA argues the government only had about a dozen slots to fill and could not pick everyone from the forty-something tribes in Kenya.

“Those saying Muslims have been left, you have other representatives across various positions so there is no need to complain. Let the CECs come for vetting and we will approve them for us to start delivering services to the people of Nairobi.”

Sakaja appointed a 10-member Chief Executive Member team and six advisors who will work in his administration.

They include Charles Kerich (Finance and Economic Planning), Brian Mulama (Talents, skills, development, and care), and Patrick Mbogo – mobility and works.

Others are Stephen Mwangi ( Buildings and urban planning), Ibrahim Auma (Administration and personnel), Rosemary Kariuki (Hustlers and business opportunities, Maureen Njeri ( Green Nairobi ), Anastacia Mutethia ( Health, wellness, and nutrition) and Susan Silantoi who will be in charge of inclusivity, public participation,Sakaja and customer service.

Sakaja also named David Njoroge as his Chief Of Staff, Lawrence Wambua as his Economic Affairs Advisor, Elias Mutuma (Legal Advisor), Dr. Samora Otieno (Health Advisor), William Ndung’u ‘Fazul’(Political Advisor) and Prof. Washington Yotto Ochieng as his Mobility Advisor.
