KOT demanding release of KTN journalist by Ugandan authorities
With the fate of Kenyan based Ugandan journalist, Joy Doreen Biira, still unclear, Kenyans on Twitter are demanding her release.
The hashtag #FreeJoyDoreen trended for the better part of Monday morning with many users calling for the immediate release of the business news anchor.
Ms Biira was arrested by Ugandan authorities on Sunday evening for reportedly for highlighting the ongoing Kasese clashes on social media and was held at the Kasese Police Station, where she said to have been interrogated before being released.
The journalist was arrested alongside her husband and three friends.
Here are some of the views of Kenyans on Twitter:
We don’t live in a world that’s a vacuum, not in 2016. You can not intimidate a journalist for speaking her truth. #FreeJoyDoreen
