KOT question ‘ridiculous’ demands for proof of Sakaja’s degree

Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) have questioned the Commission of University’s Education (CUE) demands on Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja to provide evidence that he studied in Uganda.

On Friday, CUE chair Professor Chacha Nyaigotti asked the Nairobi senator to provide material evidence as proof of his academic qualifications from Team University.

The documents included a student’s ID, transcripts, receipts of tuition fees, graduation photos and a list of lecturers that taught him at the institution.

Additionally, the Commission invited Sakaja to attend a meeting on Monday June 20, 2022 at 10am in order to provide further information that can aid in the investigations.

On Friday, Sakaja presented himself at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters but was turned away as police said he was not under arrest despite claims by the DCI boss George Kinoti that the senator was under investigations for fraud.

However, Sakaja, who is gunning for the Nairobi gubernatorial on a UDA ticket, has maintained that his academic credentials are authentic and that he is being targeted politically.
