‘Kwangwaru’, ‘Lamba Lolo’ most watched music videos in Kenya in 2018


Controversial hit single Lamba Lolo was among the most watched music videos in Kenya 2018 on the American video sharing platform YouTube.

Under the theme YouTube Rewind, the website released the list of videos which trended in Kenya attracting the most viewership.

In the music category Kwangwaru by Harmonize featuring Diamond Platnumz emerged tops followed by Sauti Sol’s hit Short and Sweet.

CHAGUO LA MOYO

The third trending music video was Chaguo la Moyo by Otile Brown and Sanaipei Tande, while Bebi Bebi by Nyashinski came fourth.

Lamba Lolo, which was released six months ago by new kids on the bloc Ethic Entertainment was fifth with 2.6 million views and counting.

Short and Sweet, released during the same period has been watched by over 11 million people.

NON-MUSIC VIDEOS

In the most watched non-music video category, Nigerian Mark Angel Comedy Who died topped the list with Kenyan comedian Njugush coming third with Njugush Ame Nduthika.

Miguna Miguna’s drama at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, when he refused to board a plane to Dubai – an episode which gave rise to the common phrase ‘I’m not boarding’ – was fourth while former Citizen Swahili news anchor Kanze Dena Kila la Heri, Kanze clip was fifth position.

PORTUGAL VS SPAIN

The video captured an emotional farewell from her colleagues at Citizen TV after on her last day at work before taking up her new position as State House Spokesperson.

The match between Portugal and Spain during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia was sixth followed by former US President Barack Obama dance in Kogelo with his grandmother, Sarah, and half-sister, Auma.

“This year’s Top Trending Videos are a testament to the adeptness of Kenyan YouTubers in creating content that entertains, informs and inspires their audiences,” Dorothy Ooko, Africa’s Head of Communications & Public Affairs at Google, said.
