KWS announce death of Sirikoi the brave lion

An iconic lion that lived at the Nairobi National park eight years has passed on.

The demise was confirmed by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS). It announced the lion identified as Sirikoi was born in 2014 in the Sosian valley.

“He came from the MF family one of the dominant and charismatic pride,” the statement by KWS reads in part.

It also described the lion as majestic with tactical and amazing hunting skills that enabled him take down big preys like giraffes and buffaloes on its own.

The lion had a distinctive dark mane which is a strong indicator of its health, vigor, strength and testosterone levels.

“RIP Sirikoi. May your spirit live on in your offspring and possibly with the two other females carrying your cubs”

Preparations are under way for the lion to be immortalized at the National Museum of Kenya.

It will be branded as an icon of Nairobi National Park and remembered for moments such as when it was captured in a video and photo going head on with a buffalo in a moment captured by wildlife photographer, Jose Fragozo.

Kenya is a renowned tourist destination with most of the visitors eager to catch a glimpse of the wildlife.
