KWS wardens capture stray lion near City Cabanas

Wildlife wardens subdued a stray lion near City Cabanas, in Embakasi, on Friday morning.

Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) had deployed three units of wardens to capture the lion that strayed from the Nairobi National Park.

“City residents stay calm and report any wild animal incidents to @kwskenya hotline 0800 597 000. Today’s lion incident resolved well,” KWS spokesman Paul Udoto tweeted.

One elderly man who was injured by the lion has been taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.

This is the fourth time in less than a month that lions and lionesses have strayed out of the park causing panic.

In the first incident where three lionesses strayed, KWS said the big cats were protecting their cubs by moving them out of the entire pride at the park.

Two days after that, a man reported at the Lang’ata Police Station that two lions mauled his three goats.

On Wednesday night, another flock was killed by lions around Lang’ata.
