Laikipia West MP robbed of Sh200k in Industrial Area

Laikipia West Member of Parliament Wachira Karani was on Saturday noon robbed at Nanyuki road in Industrial Area.

Dr Karani was in his car waiting for the gate at Ultraventis Company to be opened at around noon when he was accosted by two people on a motorcycle.

“They two asked him to give them money and his phones. They took Sh 200,000 and a Samsung S4 mobile phone worth Sh60,000,” Nairobi County Police Chief, Benson Kibui said.

The MP was not injured by the thugs who he said were armed with small pistols.

Mr Kibui said police are investigating the incident.

They are probing why the MP did not have his bodyguard during the incident.

Dr Karani becomes the latest victim of high profile robberies in Nairobi where fearless thugs strike day and night.

Last week, Deputy President William Ruto’s spokesperson David Mugonyi was carjacked as he was waiting for his gate to be opened at his Kilimani along Dennis Pritt Road at around 9:30 pm.
