Lang’ata murder: Naneu Muthoni’s boyfriend arrested while drunk
Thomas Mbugua Mutheee, the man suspected of killing his girlfriend, Naneu Muthoni, was on November 18, 2022, arrested after being on the run for five days after Ms Muthoni’s body was found in his house in Onyonka Estate, Lang’ata in Nairobi County.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mr Muthee was arrested along the Kenya-Uganda border at the Malaba border crossing point where he had been hiding since the murder was reported.
“The suspect who had a hunch that detectives were on his trail was drunk to the bone hopping from one drinking den to another in exasperation.

At the time of his arrest, some of the deceased’s personal effects were recovered from the suspect. The suspect is believed to have masterminded the gruesome murder of his lover whose lifeless body was found sprawled on a sofa with a deep cut on the forehead and blood oozing from her nose,” said the DCI in a statement.
The DCI’s forensic unit also reported that blood spatter had also been found on the walls and floors in Mr Muthee’s one-bedroom house.
Mr Muthee is currently being held at the Malaba Police Station before he will be transferred to the Lang’ata Police Station where he will be charged with murder contrary to section 203 and 204 of the penal code; and produced in court.

Nairobi News previously reported that Naneu Muthoni’s family had been searching for her for two days before she was finally discovered in Mr Muthee’s house located a few meters from her family home.
Her parents had been against the relationship after discovering that Mr Muthee used to beat her but she would not be dissuaded from continuing with the relationship.
According to reports, Naneu’s post-mortem revealed she had been beaten with a blunt object and a sharp object penetrated her skull and into her brain. Her body also had multiple injuries, showing evidence of the assault.

Her friends also took to social media to mourn her sudden, tragic demise at the hands of someone who was supposed to love her. Fondly referred to as Neu by her friends, they remembered her as a beautiful, gentle and happy soul.
