Larry Madowo to sponsor Kagumo Rapper to produce first hit

NTV host Larry Madowo has promised to sponsor underground rapper Eric Gichobi to produce his first song.

Larry made the pledge when the rapper, who is also known as Kagumo Rapper (or lapper), appeared on The Trend on Friday night.

Kagumo rapper burst into limelight last December when he uploaded a hilariously tragic video on social media rapping the song “Kagumo rapper”.

The video went viral due to the rapper’s mispronunciation of the word rapper. He says “lapper” and repeats it so many times, it’s hard to miss it.

The 28-year-old hails from Kagumo, in Kirinyaga county where he shuffles between riding and repairing boda bodas and cleaning butcheries.

DIVORCED PARENTS

In a past interview, he revealed how hard life was growing up after his parents divorced while he still young. This forced him to live in the streets, at some point.

On Friday, though, he told Larry that he would love to do rap music full time and beseeched music producers to visit rural areas to scout for talent.

It was at this point that Larry broke the news to him.

“I’ll get you a producer and I’ll help you record you record your first song and your first video, professional video,” said Larry.

“All of you my friends who are music producers call me coz I’m gonna be calling you. Ted Josiah, Bruce Odhiambo, Pine Creek Records, Peter Nduati, I’m gonna call of you guys. We need to get him a song and a music video.”

After a music break, Larry revealed that he had secured a video deal already.

“I just spoke to J Blessing who is going to do your first video. Once you get a high quality audio, we are gonna have J Blessing do your proper video…after hiyo ni wewe brathe, after hiyo utajisort,” he told the rapper.
