Last people to see slain Pakistan journalist, Arshad Sharif, questioned
Four police officers who were the last people to see slain Pakistan journalist Mr. Arshad Sharif alive were questioned on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.
Mr. Sharif was shot at a roadblock erected using stones along Magadi Road in Kajiado County.
“Four police officers have been questioned in relation to the murder of the Pakistan national and their guns have been taken for tests in the government chemist,” an officer privy to the ongoing matter but who spoke in confidence as he is not authorised to address the media said.

There were also reports that a police officer sustained bullet injuries during the shoot-out along Magadi Road.
Nairobi News cannot reveal the identities of the four officers attached to the General Service Unit (GSU) Training College in Magadi.
Led by the Rift Valley Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss the officers camped at the area where the deceased spent his day as they went on with the investigations.
They also visited Ammodump Kwenia, an entertainment spot with a shooting range open to the public.
It is at the joint that Mr. Sharif had spent his day before he left alongside his brother Mr. Khurram Ahmed.

On Tuesday evening the body of Mr. Sharif arrived at his hometown in Punjab, Pakistan and his wife said that the family was demanding answers on what transpired.
In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) said that the deceased was shot in an incident they described as mistaken identity.
“NPS regrets to announce an incident that occurred last night along Kwenia Farm within Magadi where a foreign national was wounded by a police officer. Competent authorities are currently investigating the incident for appropriate action,” the service said in a statement.
Kajiado West sub-county police boss Vincent Kitili said the journalist was a victim of mistaken identity after the GSU officers were tipped off on a stolen car.
“The officers opened fire when the driver of the vehicle failed to stop. The car was speeding at the time of the incident. It is so unfortunate we lost a Pakistan national,” he said.

According to a police statement, the confusion emerged after a man identified as Mr. Douglas Wainaina reported at Pangani Police Station that his car had been stolen.
He gave details of the missing car as a Mercedes ML350, of registration number KDJ 700F which was found in Kiserian on Sunday, October 23, 2022, the same day it went missing.
The motor vehicle that Mr. Sharif was being driven in by his brother Mr. Khurram Ahmed was a Land Cruiser V8 of registration number KDG 200M.
