Leighton who? Tanzanian journalist fails to identify Everton defender – VIDEO

Not all Everton players are renowned international stars after all.

A Tanzanian journalist went all out to prove this point on Tuesday by asking England left back Leighton Baines to literally identify himself.

Everton are touring Tanzania and are will become the first English Premier League club to play a match in East Africa when they confront Gor Mahia at the National Stadium in Dar on Thursday.

In all fairness and perhaps a lesson in humility, Baines, gladly shared his particulars with the scribe.

For all his exploits, it now seems Baines has to content to playing second fiddle to the likes of Wayne Rooney, Yannick Bolaise, Morgan Schneirdelin, Phil Jagielka, Kevin Mirales and manager Ronald Koemen, atleast in this part of the world.

Now 32, Baines has 30 caps for England’s senior national team and has featured in the English Premier League for the last 15 years.

A marauding left fullback with pace to burn, Baines has been linked with Manchester United and Arsenal in the past. He is expected to feature from the start against Gor Mahia come Thursday.
