Oh when the saint’s went tumbling; Changez rout Saint’s in rugby

Lenana School trounced defending county champions Saint Mary’s 29-6 in a one-sided county school’s match.

A brilliant try box to try box run by Lenana School (Mean Maroon) captain opened the floodgates. The conversion was, however, wide.

Barely ten minutes later, second row Bevan Kurgat powered his way for the Mean Maroon’s second try.

As the Saint’s were still coming to terms with the scores, Frank Nyadhiwa worked his way to the try box minutes later for the third try.

In front of a solid home crowd of about three hundred spectators, including old boys, Kevin Osinde scored the fourth try to take the scores to 20-0.

The first conversion of the match took the score to 22-0. An exhausted Saints side had a spindle-shanks to thank for two conversions that took the score line to 22-6.

But this worked against them as a gritty Mean Maroon scored at the whistle for a 29-6 score. Lenana School old boys joined the students in celebrating the win.

Old boys Frank Kombo, Timothy Mbarine, Michael Kirui and Hillary Itela were all smiles after the one-sided encounter.

Mean Maroon will play against Upper Hill in the first semi-final while Ofafa Jericho will take on Nairobi School in the other semi final.

For Lenana School their motto Nihil Praeter Optimum (Nothing But The Best) seems to be their motivation.
