LGBTQ+ rights advocate Jaffar Jackson’s family requests no photos at funeral


The LGBTQ+ rights advocate and former M-Net Idol, Jackson Kariuki Irungu, popularly known as Jackson Jaffar, is being laid to rest today at Langata Cemetery.

The Kenyan stylist and influential figure passed away on Sunday, January 7, succumbing to complications arising from a stomach infection.

Jaffar’s family shared that he was in good health until January 6 when he began complaining of a stomachache, leading to his admission to Malindi General Hospital.

A communiqué on a Whatsapp group from the family requests that no photos or recordings be taken during the burial ceremony, seeking privacy during this difficult time.

“We are at the funeral. The is a request that we shouldn’t film or take photos,” shared a friend on the WhatsApp group.

His friends came together, raising over Sh150k to contribute to the funeral expenses.

Described by friends as a jovial and kind person, tributes have poured in for the late stylist from those who cherished him.
