Likoni lawmaker Mishi Mboko says LGBTQ should not ‘be entertained’ in Kenya

Likoni lawmaker Mbishi Mboko says the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBTQ) debate should not be entertained in Kenya.

She expressed the view on her socials, days after Edwin Chiloba, an LGBTQ activist, was murdered in unclear circumstances.

“LGBTQ should not be entertained in our country anymore,” she tweeted.

The vocal MP joins outspoken Nyali member of parliament Mohammed Ali who recently also spoke against LGBTQ, saying it was a waste of time discussing the queer community.

“Let us not waste time discussing LQBTQ or whatever name they call it. It’s illegal, God doesn’t like it and we should not entertain it. On this one Democracy my foot! Jail them,” Ali tweeted.

Meanwhile, five people, three of them minors, have been detained in connection with Chiloba’s murder.

An autopsy revealed he died of asphyxiation (a process of being deprived of oxygen, which can result in unconsciousness or death).

Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Odour disclosed Chiloba’s mouth and nose had been covered using a cloth. His mouth was also blocked using three pairs of socks and his brain was swollen.

“The body had decomposed before we did the autopsy, there was something tied on his mouth and nose, a piece of jeans trousers which was blocking the mouth and the nose,”said Oduor.

The deceased’s family has refuted claims that their kin was a member of the Gay Society of Kenya.

The United States States has vowed to help in investigating and bringing the killers to book.
