Logarusic shortlisted for Rwanda job

By DAVID KWALIMWA February 27th, 2015 2 min read

AFC Leopards coach Zdravko Logarusic could dump the club barely a fortnight after signing a year long renewable contract.

This is after the Croatian trainer’s name appeared on a list of candidates to take over the Rwanda national team coaching role.

Logarusic, who is in Kenya for his second spell, has been in charge at Leopards for only one game, a barren draw against Chemelil Sugar in a Kenyan Premier League match.

Logarusic will however have to beat strong opposition from the likes of former French coach Raymond Domenech, Rene Feller (Netherlands), Rodolfo Zapata (Argentina) and former AFC Leopards coach Pieter de Jongh to get the post.

‘LUHYARUSIC’

His experience is drawn from coaching clubs like Gor Mahia, Simba (Tanzania) and King Faisal (Ghana).

“Loga”, or “Luhyarusic as he is now known to most of the supporters in the Kenyan Premier League, is renowned for both producing successful results coupled by a beautiful brand of attacking display with the teams he has managed, alongside his off the pitch antics and spectacular interviews.

A message posted on the home page of the trainer’s official website indicates he is still on the look out for a more lucrative job.

“My name is Zdravko Logarušić. I am looking for the soccer/football coaching position. I have experience as a soccer player and as a soccer coach. I obtained three different football Coaching Diplomas and Licenses in: Croatia, Australia and UEFA PRO License. Therefore, I am introducing my professional soccer experiences to you organization in hopes for a mutual benefit. And I worked as a coach on 4 continents, Europe, Australia, USA and Africa, with 20 years of coaching experience. I was in charge as coach in more then 1000 games.” the coach posted on zlcoach.com

The Rwanda FA is scouting for a credible coach to steer the team into a successful Africa Nations Championship tournament that the country will host early next year.
