Matatu sacco on spot after passenger who was thrown out of moving bus dies

A matatu sacco which operates within Nairobi and its outskirts has been put on the spot, following the death of a passenger who was allegedly thrown out of a moving bus.

The passenger is reported to have been pushed out by the conductor of a moving bus that belongs to Lopha Travelers Sacco in Ruiru. The man succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at a health facility.

Nairobi News has since learned that the deceased was thrown out of the bus following an argument ensued with the conductor over the fare.

It has been reported that the driver and the conductor of the bus in question are yet to be arrested. On social media Kenyans are now calling for immediate action.

In the past, there have been numerous cases that have exposed the level of indiscipline within the matatu industry.

In July 2017, a driver and his conductor in Nairobi and a pump attendant were sentenced to death for sexually assaulting a female passenger in 2014 at a petrol station in Githurai 44.

While handing Edward Gitau, Nicholas Mwangi and Meshak Mwangi the sentence, Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi described the act as a most heinous offence.

In his judgment, the Magistrate said the court was convinced by the prosecution side and proved the case against the accused persons beyond any reasonable doubt.
