Love rocks: Why Murang’a MP Betty Maina’s Sh300K engagement ring is unique

Love is in the air as Murang’a Woman Representative Betty Maina and Mathira MP Eric Wa Mumbi are engaged.

The happy couple went public with their relationship in December last year when Betty wished Eric a happy 35th birthday on her social media pages.

In a recent interview with Inooro TV, Eric confirmed that they would be formalizing their relationship and that they are already living together.

The engagement ceremony was a private affair attended by close friends, including Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika and politician Anne Waiguru.

In photos and videos shared online, Eric goes down on one knee and presents Betty with a salt and pepper diamond ring as he asks her the big question, “Will you marry me?” Betty joyfully accepts his proposal, and the two embrace warmly amidst cheers from their friends.

Betty’s ring has attracted some attention, and according to websites that sell rings, it is similar to some popular and high-priced rings.

The cost of the ring is approximately $2,260, which is around Sh304,422.

Eric did not shy away from revealing that he would lead an entourage from Mathira to negotiate the bride price. At the same time, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro will host on behalf of Ms Maina’s delegation in Murang’a.

Betty’s engagement ring has made waves online with its unique and stunning design. The ring features a 1-carat salt and pepper diamond as its main stone, set in a 4-prong yellow gold band. The ring also includes several side diamonds with a total weight of 0.12 carats. The side diamonds have a clarity grade of SI2-SI3 and a colour grade of G-H.

The salt and pepper diamond is the highlight of the ring, with its distinctive greyish-black colour and unique inclusions. This type of diamond is becoming increasingly popular among couples looking for something unique and unconventional. The diamond is round and has a brilliant cut, maximising its sparkle and brilliance.

The ring is made of 14-karat yellow gold, perfectly complements the salt and pepper diamond.

Yellow gold is a popular choice for engagement rings as it is durable, timeless, and looks great on most skin tones.

The ring has a weight of approximately 2 grams, making it comfortable and easy to wear every day.

Both Eric and Betty have had their fair share of challenges in their personal lives. Eric was previously married to Catherine Nyambura, and they were blessed with two sons.

Unfortunately, Catherine died in a mysterious death, leading to Eric being questioned during investigations that eventually fizzled out.

In an emotional Facebook post, Eric expressed how much he loved his wife and how her death left a huge void in his life and that of their two sons.

On the other hand, Betty was married before and has two children from her previous marriage. In an interview with Jeff Kuria TV, she opened up about her failed marriage, saying that she was young and naive at the time.

However, she does not blame her ex-partner or herself for the failed relationship. Betty is now a successful politician, previously serving as the Athi Water Development Agency director.
