Man arrested for stabbing suspected wife’s lover to death

Police in Bungoma on September 12, 2023, nabbed a man who allegedly stabbed the lover of his wife.

In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) alleged Mr Silas Menon Kinjo allegedly stabbed Mr Alex Kayecha, 40.

Mr Kayecha was on September 11, 2023, found lying in a pool of blood on the floor of his house.

“He was rushed to Mt. Elgon Sub-County Hospital where he was pronounced dead while undergoing treatment,” a statement by the police read in part.

Detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) managed to recover the killer weapon which is a knife and blood-stained bed-sheet which has been kept as an exhibit.

The body is preserved at Dreamland Mission Mortuary awaiting autopsy.

In a separate incident, police are investigating an incident in which an Ethiopian national was found dead and body dumped in a thicket within Kakuma in Turkana County.

The body of Baricha Abdi Oda, 26, was found in the thicket in Nakwangat village within Lopur ward, police said.

He had been stabbed in the stomach and chest. Police also said that a motorbike he had been using was also missing.

Police were called and informed of the discovery outside the Kakuma refugee camp before moving the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and probe.

The motive of the attack is yet to be known.

In August 2023, an unknown number of gunmen raided the Kakuma refugee camp in Turkana and killed a South Sudanese refugee.

The deceased was identified as Francis Lado Abraham, 29.

Police said the incident happened at Kalobeyei Village 3 neighborhood 20 compound 1 house 9 within Kakuma refugee camp.

The gang, which was armed with AK47 rifles had cut the deceased’s house using a sharp object to gain entry, police said.

They then shot the refugee in the head and escaped into the nearby thicket.

The wife who was inside the house at the time of the incident told police the killers were speaking Arabic language.
