Man commits suicide after killing his cousin lover
A boda boda rider on Wednesday afternoon stabbed his girlfriend to death before killing himself with the same knife in their rental single roomed house at Botore, Kisii county.
Geoffrey Aroni, 24, killed his girlfriend, Christine Nyananga, who is also his cousin.
A relative, Mr Ben Ogango, said that the two had been warned against the affair.
“The man called me and told me to take care of his daughter. I am shocked and can’t believe he had to do this,” he said.
He said the two, who had sired a daughter, have been having an on-off affair for years now.
Neighbors said that they heard commotion in the house and reported to the community policing chairman in the area, Mr Paul Matoya.
Kisii County police commissioner Agnes Mudambi said that the police have begun investigations.
She also urged members of the public to solve their differences amicably without fighting.
“We have many ways of solving disputes and fighting is not one of them. If one feels that he has been wronged its better to report to us,” she said.
Mr Matoya said he immediately rushed to the scene only to find the two lifeless bodies lying on the floor.
“I immediately called the police who rushed to the scene,” he said.
The two bodies have been rushed to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital with police rummaging through the house to establish the motive of the killings.
