A Nanyuki court has fined a man Sh 5,000 or in default serve two months in jail after he was convicted of calling his mother a prostitute.

Wilson Mwangi Wairimu, who had earlier denied the charges, appeared before the Senior Resident Magistrate Evanson Bett charged with insulting his mother, Hellen Wairimu, by calling her a prostitute and other expletives.

Prosecution told the court that on on September 12 in Narumoru area, Nyeri County, Mwangi went home and started insulting his mother while threatening to beat her up.

The mother reported the incident to Narumoro police station and the accused was arrested and was later presented in court where he denied the charges when the case was mentioned.

However, on Friday, Mwangi pleaded guilty to the charges and asked for leniency saying he was drunk when he insulted his mother.
