Man in Magerer assault case not Raila’s bodyguard – ODM
Orange Democratic Movement has said a man charged with assaulting former party executive officer Magerer Langat is not part of Raila Odinga’s security detail.
The party said that Benard Kadundo is in charge of the security at Orange House, the party headquarters.
In a statement sent to newsrooms on Thursday, the party Director of Communications Phil Etale said Mr Kadundo has never been part of Raila’s security team.
“Mr Odinga has bodyguards assigned to him by the state and are known to the National Police Service, their employer,” read the statement in part.
The party added that the accused has been handling security at the headquarters diligently since his employment.
“Mr Kadundo is a disciplined employee of the National Secretariat of the party who has been handling security issues at the party level with a lot competence and diligence,” stated ODM.
Five Members of Nairobi County Assembly (MCAs) of ODM party and Mr Kadundo were on Tuesday charged with creating disturbance and assaulting former party executive officer Magerer Langat last year.
