Man pleads guilty to charges of possession of bhang
A man who was arrested with bhang worth Sh2,000 in Ngara has pleaded guilty to charges of possession of the narcotic drug, further revealing how he helped a stranger carry it in his bag.
Victor Njenga pleaded guilty to charges of possessing two sachets of with bhang weighing around 50 grammes each and additional 20 rolls of the weed in his bag contrary to narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances Act of 1994.
Njenga was arrested along Kipande road in Ngara, Nairobi on November 9, 2021. The arrest was made by four officers from Parklands police station who stopped him for interrogation because he “looked suspicious”.
After interrogation, a quick search was done on him and the bhang recovered in his bag.
He admitted the charges and claimed the person who had sought his help to carry the bhang fled after he was stopped by the police.
Senior principal magistrate Esther Boke entered a plea of not guilty for Njenga because his argument amounted to denying the charges although he insisted the charges against him were true.
Njenga was released on a surety bond of Sh100,000 and an alternative cash bail of Sh8000. The case will be mentioned on November 24, 2021.
