Man shot and killed in Donholm, robbers confuse bag with cups as money
A city man on Monday lost his life after robbers shot and killed him and grabbed a bag with disposable cups thinking it was money.
Police say the victim had just left a local bank after depositing a cheque when two armed suspects on a motorcycle grabbed the bag he was carrying, thinking it had money.
“He was in possession of a carrier bag containing two disposable tea cups which it is suspected the robbers thought was money,” police said in a statement.
While snatching the carrier bag, the robbers shot him three times in his legs and another in his chest.
Police found a spent cartridge, and a bullet head, his mobile phone, and Sh100 in his pocket.
The body was taken to Mama Lucy Kibaki hospital mortuary.
In another robbery in the city, three people were robbed at the junction of Harambee Avenue and Uhuru Highway directly opposite the parliament building near the police canteen gate.
The three who work at Upperhill Springs restaurant were accosted by a gang of four who were on two motorcycles and armed with pistols, panga and knives before they were robbed.
According to one of the victims, the gang robbed them of money and mobile phones before slapping him on the left cheek with a panga.

In Kilimani, a man on a motorcycle was arrested after he tried to rob a woman of her mobile phone.
According to the police, the woman walking along Kindaruma Road, the victim screamed as she was being robbed, and police who were on patrol came to her rescue.
The suspect, identified as Kelvin Ngake, 21, tried to escape, but police managed to apprehend him near the Golf Course area.
In Kasarani, police have launched investigations after a tout of Nazigi Sacco was found murdered and his body dumped near Africanas apartments.
According to the police, the body had multiple head injuries.
