Man shot dead by police after killing two people with a hammer in Kajiado
A man was shot dead by police in Kimana area, Kajiado County on Friday after beating two people to death.
Loitokitok police commander David Kabuthia confirmed the case and identified the assailant as only Mwangi, aged about 22.
Police said the deceased used a hammer to kill the two in a rampage in the village.
Eyewitnesses said the assailant also attacked the police before trying to escape in a police vehicle that arrived at the scene.
Mwangi is said to have first entered the compound of 99-year-old Stanley Ngige Kimani, where he tried to steal a car.
Witnesses at the compound raised the alarm and alerted the owner, “when the old man came out of the house and intervened.

The accused, now the deceased, confronted him with an iron rod and hit him on the head, killing him instantly,” Kibuthia said.
The commotion attracted the attention of a nearby neighbour who rushed to the scene to help the elderly man.
Seeing that the assailant was armed with the crude weapon, he tried to escape but was brutally beaten to death, police said.
Mwangi then went to the Kimana area where he attacked a tuktuk driver.
Police said they identified the tuktuk driver as Simon Kihara and stopped him. The victim ran to a local police station and filed a report.
“He had sustained serious injuries to his forehead,” police said. The police caught up with Mwangi, who was walking along the roadside with the gun.
