Man using ‘female’ account name on X arrested over DP Gachagua claims
A person who was arrested after allegedly making false claims that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was involved in a plot to harm Kiharu, Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro, is now seeking financial support for his legal defense.
The suspect, identified as Silvance Adongo Abeta, reportedly used a pseudo-Twitter account under the name “Karen Wanjiku HSC” to make these unsubstantiated claims.
These claims prompted detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to launch an investigation into the matter.
Taking to social media, Abeta, who is currently in custody at Muthaiga Police Station, appealed to his supporters to contact his lawyer, Mr Emmanuel, and make financial contributions to secure his release.

“Hello family? Please bail me out; I am currently at Muthaiga Police Station. Send your contributions to my lawyer,” the tweet read in part.
Abeta was apprehended on September 9, 2023, by detectives from the DCI special crime unit in Muthinga Area, within Kikuyu Sub-County, Kiambu County.
According to an affidavit signed by a senior officer based at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road, Abeta is described as “a notorious cyberbully who operates a parody Twitter account.”
The affidavit further revealed that Abeta had been using this parody account to disseminate false information and engage in cyberbullying against various individuals.
The tweet that led to Abeta’s arrest claimed that a local newspaper would publish a story about an alleged conspiracy to harm the legislator, Ndindi Nyoro, currently serving his second term in parliament.
“The investigation team is yet to make additional recoveries, and if the respondent is released, he may interfere with the ongoing investigations,” the tweet also mentioned.
Law enforcement authorities indicated that one of the devices used to log into the Twitter account was found in Abeta’s possession at the time of his arrest.
The case is now under investigation, and Abeta awaits legal proceedings for the charges against him.
