Man who ‘inserted metal object into wife’s genitals’ charged with sexual assault
A man who allegedly inserted a metallic object into his wife’s private parts after accusing her of infidelity has been charged with sexual assault in contravention of the sexual offences Act of 2006.
ES, 35, is accused of penetrating VNM with a metal bar at their house in Nairobi on October 22, 2023.
The court has preserved the accused and complainants’ identities owing to the sensitivity of the matter.
The suspect was also charged with assault and causing actual bodily harm contrary to section 251 of the Penal Code where he is accused of beating up and injuring VNM using the same object.
VNM had returned from church at around 6 pm and found her two children in the sitting room, and her husband, who is the suspect in this case, in the bedroom.
She proceeded to the kitchen where ES followed her and asked her where she had been.
ES alleged that his wife had visited other men for sexual intercourse and he needed to confirm it using the metallic object.
The accused person is said to have forcefully undressed the complainant before allegedly committing the heinous act as she struggled to free herself. ES is said to have hit VNM with the object on the head, back, and chest.
ES later dragged VNM to the bathroom where he allegedly assaulted her. She started bleeding from the mouth and the accused person allegedly closed her mouth and forced her to swallow the blood.
The complainant fell down during the commotion and ES started stepping on her abdomen while assaulting her.
The suspect allegedly attempted to cut the complainant’s breast with a kitchen knife during the alleged onslaught and later dragged her into their children’s bedroom while naked and locked her there.
She screamed for help and their caretaker visited to check. VNM wore her clothes that she had found inside their children’s bedroom escaped, and fled to Ruai police station where she reported the incident.
Police officers visited the home and recovered the metallic object, the knife, and VNM’s torn and bloodstained clothes at the scene where the arrested ES.
VNM was treated at the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital in Embakasi as investigations went on and the accused was arraigned at the Makadara Law Courts.
He denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Erick Mutunga and pleaded for lenient bail and bond terms through lawyer Achieng Otieno.
The suspect was released on a bond of Sh500,000 and an alternative cash bail of Sh200,000.
The case will be mentioned on December 7 before the hearing starts on April 11, 2023.
