Man who lost nine relatives in Webuye accident melts hearts with this Facebook post


Kenyans online are empathizing with a man who lost nine relatives in the road accident at Kamukuywa bridge, Webuye, on Monday.

George Oguso had Friday morning posted a message mourning his relatives that has since gone viral with Facebook users condoling with him.

Several vehicles were involved in the accident on the Kitale-Webuye highway after a matatu rammed into a tractor that was transporting sugar cane. In total, 20 people died in the accident.

George and his brother Wycliffe Kegode were travelling in another vehicle when the accident happened.

His wife, two children, brother, sister, a sister in-law, two nephews and a niece died in the accident.

His other son and a nephew, who were travelling in the same vehicle, survived and are being treated at Bungoma Hospital.

The accident happened as the family was travelling back home after attending a reunion at their sister’s home in Matunda, Kitale.

George shared a photo that was taken during the event hours before the fatal accident.

His status update naming his late relatives was shared widely as users encouraged him to be strong;

Stacey Kisato commented; “I am so sorry for your great loss. ‘He gives and takes away but my heart will choose to say blessed be the name of the Lord’ may God give you comfort in these trying times.”

Norman Mwaura added; “My heartfelt condolences George. May the Lord God give you and family all the grace, comfort & strength at this time. Poleni sana.”

Millie Okeyo wrote; “George what you are going through now, none of us can comprehend, but God Himself…may He comfort you, may He shine His bright light upon you and all the family members. Be consoled brother. I am personally praying for you??”
