Mary Wambui reassures Kenyans on Kibaki’s health


Othaya MP Mary Wambui has assured Kenyans that former President Mwai Kibaki is in good health and relaxing at home following reports that he had been admitted to hospital.

Speaking during the UhuRutoExpress meetings in Nyeri, the lawmaker while campaigning for President Kenyatta in Mukurweini, said she was with the former president in the morning and can confirm that he is well.

“I was with him in the morning and he was in good health. He asked me to greet you when I meet you,” she said to cheers from the residents.

The lobby group, which is headed by Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau, is campaigning for the re-election of President Kenyatta.

Last week, there were widespread rumours on social media that the retired president had passed on after being rushed to hospital.

Some bloggers have been publishing his life history causing panic among Kenyans.

Earlier this week, Kibaki’s spokesperson, Ngare Gituku, dispelled similar fears following wide spread reports that the former head of state had been taken ill.

Last year, the retired president was flown to a hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa after he was taken ill.
