MCA ‘insults’ Westlands MP for being disabled

A Nairobi MCA has caused outrage in Westlands constituency for allegedly insulting area MP Tim Wanyonyi on Tuesday last week.

Mountain View representative Beatrice Kwamboka allegedly sent Mr Wanyonyi’s Personal Assistant Obed Andanje a text message taunting his disability.

The message emotionally declaring war on the MP over a fight for ODM chairmanship in the area told Mr Wanyonyi he will ‘walk’.  The MP is disabled waist down.

“Who is he to be chairman? I’ll take that seat by the voice of the people. This time atatembea kwa miguu” (he will rise and walk.)

Mr Wanyonyi said he took offence because the MCA made the remarks knowing too well that he uses a wheelchair.

TAKE ACTION

The MP and current ODM Westlands branch acting chairman has reported the matter to Spring Valley Police Station.

Westlands women league are now demanding that ODM takes action against Kwamboka.

“If the party leader and the National Executive Council does not take action we will invoke the constitution as she has no integrity,” Emmy Salamba said.

The women led by the league Secretary General Caroline Manyunzu condemned the MCA for insulting the disabled people in the whole country.

Mrs Kwamboka said she would not comment on the matter and hung up when Nairobi News tried to reach her.
